But Yossie didn’t want to go outside and play. He wanted to help get ready for Shabbos.

So Yossie went over to his sister Miriam. Miriam was busy polishing all the silver for Shabbos. The bechers and the laichter stood on the dining room table shining in their fullest glory, while the trays and pitchers waited at the side for their turn to come.

“Miriam,” Yossie asked excitedly, “may I help you polish the silver? I would love to help prepare for Shabbos.”

“Oh, Yossie!” was Miriam’s impatient answer, “you’re too little to polish the silver. You might break something, and then how would our Shabbos table look? Why don’t you go outside and play? Nobody expects you to help.”
