Berachos 15

***************GIRSA SECTION********************
We recommend using the textual changes suggested by the Bach, Rav B. Rensburg and the parenthetical marginal notes of the Vilna Shas. This section is devoted to any *OTHER* changes that we feel ought to be made in Gemara, Rashi or Tosfos.)

[1] Gemara 15a [line 33]:
"*v'Lo bi'Vrachah Talya Milsa*"
These words do not appear in the manuscript Gemara of Dikdukei Sofrim #6
nor in Beis Nasan. They also do not appear in Tosfos ha'Rosh. It appears
from Rashi DH "v'Iy Rebbi Yosi" as well that he was not Gores these words
(for even without the reasoning that "the Mitzvah is not dependent upon the
Berachah," hearing what one says is not required by any Mitzvah d'Rabanan,
as stated earlier in the Sugya).

[2] Rashi 15a DH umi'Mai d'Rebbi Yosi Hi:
*"Ka Salka Da'atach* Hai d'Mukmi Lah ..."
The Maharsha has already wondered how the words "Ka Salka Da'atach" fit in
here. It would appear that this Dibur belongs later on, and it is referring
to the words on the last line of the page. (M. KORNFELD) ************************************************

1) [line 1] YEFANEH - he should relieve himself
*2*) [line 7] K'ILU TAVAL - the washing of his hands is comparable to immersing his entire body in a Mikvah (RASHI)

3) [line 11] KISMIS - chip of wood
4) [line 13] LAYIT - cursed
5) [line 19] V'LO DIKDEK B'OSIYOSEHA - he did not enunciate the words properly

15b---------------------------------------15b

6) [line 11] HIGI'A L'CHINUCH - who is of age to be taught, nine or ten years old (RASHI)

7) [line 33] "SHALOSH HENAH LO SISBANAH ... SHE'OL V'OTZER RACHAM ..." - "There are three things that are never satisfied ... She'ol (Gehinom, the grave) and the barren womb ... " (Mishlei 30:15-16)

8) [line 36] B'CHASHAI - silently
*9*) [line 38] "U'CHSAVTAM" HA'KOL BI'CHTAV - (This Sugya is recorded here only because it concludes "Who said it? Rebbi Yehudah!" - like the Sugya earlier on this Daf

11) [line 39] SOTAH -
A Sotah is a woman who is suspected of committing adultery because she was warned by her husband not to be alone with a certain man and then she violated the warning. In order to determine her innocence or guilt, the following procedure is followed:

(a) The husband must bring his wife to the Beis ha'Mikdash, along with a sacrifice consisting of 1/10 of an Eifah (approx. 2 quarts) of barley meal.
(b) An earthen jug is then filled with half a Lug of water from the Kiyor, and dirt from the floor of the Mishkan is placed on top of the water. The portion of the Torah describing the curses with which a Sotah is cursed (which contains numerous appearances of Hashem's name) was written on parchment and then immersed in the water, causing the ink to dissolve and the holy name to be erased.
(c) The Sotah would drink from the water. If she had been unfaithful to her husband, the water would enter her body and cause her belly die a gruesome death. If she was faithful to her husband, she would remain unharmed and would be blessed with children (Bamidbar 5:11-31)
12) [line 45] REVACH BEIN HA'DEVEIKIM - a space between two words, one which ends with the same letter with which the next begins

13) [line 45] ANI RAVA BASREI - Rava responded after him (explaining his words)

14) [line 48] "B'FARES SHA-DAI, MELACHIM BAH, TASHLEG B'TZALMON" - "When the Almighty scatters kings in it, snow falls in Tzalmon" (Tehilim 68:15)

15) [line 48] AL TIKRI "B'FARES", ELA "B'FARESH" - Read it as "When you *enunciate explicitly* the words of the yoke of the Almighty, the Torah by which kings rule, shall cause it to snow in Gehinom."
