Ask A Question on the daf

Nazir 27

1) WHAT IS SPECIFIED?

(a) Counter-question (Rav Papa - Mishnah - R. Shimon Ben Gamliel): If a man designated 3 animals for his Nezirus, and did not specify which is for which sacrifice, the one fitting for the sin-offering is brought as the sin-offering, the one fit for the burnt-offering will be the burnt-offering, the one fit for Shelamim will be Shelamim.
1. This shows, animals are considered specified!
(b) Answer (Rav Simi Bar Ashi): Regarding a Ken, it says "He will take" and "He will offer"; a Ken is only specified when it is bought, or when the Kohen offers it;

(c) By sacrifices of a Nazir - you cannot say that the sin-offering will be offered as the burnt-offering - the former is a female, the latter is a male!
(d) Question (Rav Hamnuna): Do we really say that a blemished animal is as unspecified money?
1. (Mishnah): When can a Nazir bring the sacrifices of his father? He (and his father were Nezirim - the text of most Rishonim reads 'was a Nazir'); his father separated money for his Nezirus, and died. He said, 'I am a Nazir on condition that I bring the sacrifices of my father'
2. (When the son does not bring the sacrifices of his father) - unspecified money goes to Nedavah;
3. A specified animal: A sin-offering dies, a burnt-offering is offered as a burnt-offering, and a Shelamim is offered as a Shelamim.
4. Suggestion: The last law of the Mishnah applies even if the animal was blemished.
(e) Answer: No, it refers to a pure animal.
(f) Question: Will you say, a blemished animal has the law of unspecified money? If so, the Mishnah should say, a blemished animal goes to Nedavah (and all the more so, unspecified money)!
(g) Answer: The Kedushah of a blemished animal is its value - this is included when the Mishnah teaches the law of money.
2) CAN A SON BRING HIS FATHER'S SACRIFICE?
(a) Question (Rava - Beraisa): "His sacrifice" - a man is Yotzei (fulfills his obligation) with his own sacrifice, and not with the sacrifice of his father;
1. Suggestion: Perhaps he is not Yotzei for a severe sin with a sacrifice the father separated for a light sin, or vice-versa, but he is Yotzei for a sin of the same severity!
2. Rejection: "His sacrifice" - a man is Yotzei with his own sacrifice, and not with the sacrifice of his father.
3. Suggestion: Perhaps he is not Yotzei with an animal his father separated, even for sins of the same severity, just as a Nazir cannot bring animals his father separated for the father's Nezirus;
i. But he is Yotzei (if he buys an animal) with money the father separated, even for sins of different severity, just as Nazir is Yotzei with unspecified money of his father, but not with specified money!
