This is why Shamai was able to make the woman Tahor because of "Bitul Piryah v'Rivyah", as the Gemara will soon explain. Mid'Oraisa, even Hillel agrees that the woman has a Chezkas Taharah and is not Tamei retroactively. (All Amora'im apparently agree to this ruling)
