FOOTNOTES:
==========
(1) This is according to Rebbi, because the blood which caused the Chazakah
(B) is not Metamei MELE. Raban Shimon ben Gamliel holds that the a Chazakah
is created by (C). He will be Metamei MELE only after the fourth time the
woman sees blood, (D).
(2) This is according to Rebbi, because the blood which caused the Chazakah (B) *is* Metamei MELE. Raban Shimon ben Gamliel holds that the Chazakah is created by (C). He will be Metamei MELE only the after third time the woman sees blood, (C).
(3) According to Rebbi Eliezer, who maintains that after 90 days pass without seeing blood, any woman is considered a Besulas Damim.
(4) The Gemara's question is whether, after the first 90-day break (C), a
woman who has not yet reached the *age* of seeing blood but *has seen*
blood anyhow returns to her original status of "Lo Higi'a Zemanah," or not.
If she returns to her original status, she will only become Tamei MELE
after the third time she sees blood (F) according to Rebbi, and after the
fourth time she sees blood (G) according to Raban Shimon ben Gamliel. If
she does not return to that status but rather is considered "Higi'a
Zemanah," she will be Metamei MELE after the *second* time she sees blood
(E). (See Insights to Daf 10a.)
The Gemara's conclusion: the first choice is correct, she is *not* Metamei
MELE after a 30-day break (D).
(5) The Gemara's question is whether, after the *second* 90-day break (D),
a woman who has not yet reached the *age* of seeing blood but *has seen*
blood anyhow returns to her original status of "Lo Higi'a Zemanah" or not.
If she returns to her original status, she will only be Metamei MELE if she
sees after 90 days for a third time (2:F), making 90 days her new "seeing
time." If she does not return to the status of "Lo Higi'a Zemanah," she
will be Metamei MELE even if she sees her third time after only 30 days
(4:F).
The Gemara's conclusion: the second choice is correct, she is Metamei MELE
even after a 30-day break (E).
