(2) Even though a normal Rishon l'Tumah is only Metamei foods and liquids (Ochlin v'Mashkin), these Kelim -- when they are touching the Zav -- will be Metamei Klei Shetef (that is, all types of utensils other than Klei Cheres).
(3) The Din of Mishkav and Merkav is the same as the Din of Zav itself. The only difference is that the Zav makes the Kli under it into a Mishkav, and Mishkav does not make whatever is under it into a Mishkav.
(4) Tosfos in Eruvin (27a, DH Kol she'Nisa) has a doubt that perhaps we require specifically something that is fit for this type of usage. The Ritva in our Sugya writes that this indeed is the halacha, that this Din applies only to something that is specifically made for spreading over a person; any other Kli, though, would be Tahor.
(5) According to the Ra'avad (Hilchos Mishkav u'Moshav 6:3), these Kelim will be Metamei Begadim (while they are still on top of the Zav (-Achronim)), just like a person touching a Zav or underneath a Zav.
(6) The Mishnah l'Melech (beginning of chapter 3, Hilchos Mishkav u'Moshav) cites an opinion that argues and holds that this is a normal Rishom l'Tumah and it will not be Metamei Begadim.
(7) This is clear from Maseches Zavim 5:2. However, Tosfos in Eruvin (27a, DH Kol) writes in the name of Rabbeinu Tam that they are Tahor only with regard to being an Av ha'Tumah, but they are Tamei as a Rishon l'Tumah to be Metamei Ochlin u'Mashkin. This also appears to be the opinion of Rashi (NIdah 54b, DH Hi, see Insights later to Daf 49b). (Rashi in Shabbos 83b, however, writes that they are completely Tahor, like all the other Rishonim
