 Gemara 70a [line 31]:
The words "Af Al Gav *d'Chi Akshei* Rachmana"
should be "Af Al Gav *d'Akshah* Rachmana"
This is the Girsa of the Manuscripts and the emendation of the Maharam.
1) [line 8] CHAGIGAS CHAMISHAH ASAR
Every Jewish male is obligated to come to the Azarah of the Beis ha'Mikdash
on Pesach, Shavuos and Sukos, and bring an animal as a Korban Chagigah, as
the Torah states, "Shalosh Regalim Tachog Li ba'Shanah" (Shemos 23:14).
2) [line 10] SIMCHAH
(a) The Mitzvah of Simchah (Devarim 27:7) that applies on the three Holidays
of Pesach, Shavu'os and Sukos is to eat from sacrifices every day of the
holiday. If no other sacrifice is available, the people bring a special
Korban, known as Shalmei Simchah, for the purpose of fulfilling this
Mitzvah. Women are also obligated in this Mitzvah (RAMBAM Hilchos Chagigah
(b) Besides offering extra Korbanos, the Mitvah of Simchah also requires
that all of the Jews be happy on the holidays. Buying food and clothing that
cause one to be happy, each person according to his taste, fulfills this
Mitvah. One must also remember to support the poor and downtrodden on Yom
Tov, for if one spends one's time eating and drinking without helping the
poor, it is not considered a Simchah Shel Mitzvah; rather, it is Simchas
Kreiso (a feast for one's stomach) (RAMBAM Hilchos Yom Tov 6:17-18)
3) [line 33] SHONEH U'MATBIL - he immerses it (possibly) a second time in a
Mikvah (since he is in doubt if its owner immersed it at all)
4) [line 33] KUFITZ - a cleaver
5) [line 2] D'MIS NASI - the Nasi died (in which case everyone is obligated
to take a part in his burial)
*6*) [line 6] D'NASI GOSES BI'SHELOSHAH ASAR - that is, on the 13th the Nasi
was about to die [and the knife was found on the following day, the 14th].
7a) [line 19] TA'AMA D'PERUSHIM NEIKU V'NIFROSH - must we explain the
reasoning or arguments of the seceders/renegades?!
9) [line 22] MOSAR HA'PESACH (leftover animals which were originally made
Kadosh as a Korban Pesach but were not brought as Pesachim)
(a) If an animal was set aside as a Korban Pesach, but was not brought as a
Korban Pesach for some reason (e.g. because it was lost on the 14th of
Nisan), it is called "Mosar ha'Pesach" and may be offered as a Korban
Shelamim. The Mosar ha'Pesach is identical to a Shelamim except that it is
eaten only for one day and one night, instead of two days and the night in
(b) Some say that in order to become like a Shelamim the Mosar ha'Pesach
needs an Akirah (TOSFOS 60b DH b'She'ar). If the animal is slaughtered
*without* Akirah, it is still considered a full-fledged Pesach and is Pasul
since it was not slaughtered during its proper time (see Pesachim 60b). The
act of slaughtering the animal she'Lo l'Shema (e.g. slaughtering it for the
sake of offering a Shelamim or Olah), however, qualifies as an Akirah and
makes the animal into a Shelamim.
10) [line 34] AVIN TICHLA - Avin the bereaved (who buried his children)
11) [line 34] AVIN TICHLA, LEIMA KI HA MILSA - (a) is it fitting that Ravin
(= Rav Avin) should say such a thing?; (b) such a thing is fit to be said by
Avin the Bereaved (who lived at the time of Abaye, and not by Ravin who
