Rosh Hashanah 10

ROSH HASHANAH 2-10 sponsored by a generous grant from an anonymous donor. Kollel Iyun Hadaf is indebted to him for his encouragement and support and prays that Hashem will repay him in kind.

1) [line 16] NIDAH
(a) By Torah Law, a woman who has her period is a Nidah for seven days. It makes no difference whether she saw blood only one time or for the entire seven days. At the end of seven days, *after nightfall*, she immerses in a Mikvah to become Tehorah.
(The current practice is to consider all women who have a show of blood to be a Zavah and therefore they must have seven clean days before they go to the Mikvah)

10b---------------------------------------10b

2) [line 2] SHELOSHIM U'SHELOSHIM BA'I - he requires thirty days (for the plant to take root) and another thirty days (for the plant to be considered as living for a year)

3) [line 6] KOLETES - take root
4) [line 27] V'CHODESH LI'MENUYAV V'SHANAH LI'MENUYEHA - one time period is significant enough to be called one month if it is a counted using a unit by which a month is counted, i.e. a day, and one time period is significant enough to be called one year if it is counted using a unit by which a year is counted, i.e. a month
