Previous daf

Shabbos 96

Perek ha'Zorek

1)

(a) What are Gezuztera'os?

(b) What is the case of 'ha'Zorek me'Reshus ha'Yachid li'Reshus ha'Yachid, u'Reshus ha'Rabim be'Emtza'? Where are the Reshuyos ha'Yachid?

(c) Why is one Chayav for handing from one Reshus ha'Yachid to another via the Reshus ha'Rabim - when it is along the street, but not across it?

2) Rebbi Akiva does not differentiate between handing and throwing.
What do the Rabbanan hold with regard to throwing, and why?

Answers to questions

96b---------------------------------------96b

3)

(a) What do we learn from the Pasuk in Vayakhel "va'Yetzav Moshe, va'Ya'aviru Kol ba'Machaneh", and how do we learn it from there?

(b) How do we know that *that* Pasuk is speaking about the Isur Shabbos, and not just from a practical point of view - i.e. because there was sufficient material for the Mishkan' and no more was needed?

(c) From where do we know Hachnasah?

(d) Is there any difference between Hotza'ah and Hachnasah?

4)
(a) What is the difference whether one refers to a Melachah as an Av or as a Toldah?

(b) What does Rebbi Eliezer hold in this regard?

(c) According to Rebbi Eliezer, why does one call some Melachos 'Avos', and others, 'Toldos'?

5)
(a) 'If someone throws four Amos on a wall *above* ten Tefachim, he is Patur, *below* ten Tefachim, he is Chayav'.
How is this speaking? What kind of article is he throwing, and where does it land?

(b) Why is he Patur above ten Tefachim?

(c) Why does below ten Tefachim not have the Din of a Karmelis or a Makom Petur?

6)
(a) On what grounds does the Gemara reject the following contentions (as sources for the Melachah of throwing) that throwing four Amos in the street was performed in the Mishkan:
1. The weavers of the curtains would throw their needles to each other?
2. The people who sewed the curtains would throw their needles to each other?
3. The weavers would throw the shuttle between the walls of the weaving-loom?
4. They would throw the shuttle to one another?
(b) If the weavers were sitting working next to each other, how would they avoid interfering with each other whilst they worked - in which case, they *would* have needed to throw the shuttle to one another after all?

(c) What do we learn from the Pasuk in Pekudei "Ish Ish mi'Melachto Asher Hemah Osim"?

7)
(a) Does the Gemara have suggestions as to how carrying four Amos in the Reshus ha'Rabim may have been performed in the Mishkan?

(b) What then, *is* the source for carrying four Amos being a Melachah?

8)
(a) The Gemara presents three possible theories for the Melachah that the 'Mekoshesh' transgressed.
What are they?

(b) What practical difference does it make whether, or not, we know which Melachah it was?

(c) What is a Megilas Setarim?

9)
(a) What does Rebbi Akiva learn from the Gezeirah Shavah "Vayihyu B'nei Yisrael *ba'Midbar*, va'Yimtze'u Ish" (Sh'lach Lecha) & "Avinu Mes *ba'Midbar*" (Pinchas)?

(b) Why does Rebbi Yehudah ben Beseira object to the above Derashah?

(c) How can he argue with a Gezeirah Shavah?

(d) Then what *was* Tzelafchad's sin, according to him?
