Sukah 49

SUKA 36-56 (End of Maseches) have been dedicated by the wife and daughters of the late Dr. Simcha Bekelnitzky (Simcha Gedalya ben Shraga Feibush) of Queens N.Y. Well known in the community for his Chesed and Tzedakah, he will long be remembered.

(Shir ha'Shirim 7:3) - The Gemara interprets this verse to mean, "...the rounded pipes for your libations' abyss-like trenches, handiwork of the Master Craftsman."

49b---------------------------------------49b

*20*) [line 1] K'SHEM SHE'NISUCHO BI'KEDUSHAH - the Gemara first proves from "ba'Kodesh Hasech" that whatever the word "Kodesh" refers to must be done in the Azarah, because it is compared to Nisuch. Later, the Gemara proves from a verse discussing Nosar that the word "Kodesh" refers to *burning*.

13) [line 8] (BED'IKLAT) [D'I KALAT] - if he collected the wine as it was falling

14) [line 9] EIN LECHA DAVAR SHE'NA'ASEIS MITZVASO U'MO'ALIN BO
Generally, after the completion of a Mitzvah that is performed with a particular object, it becomes permitted to derive benefit from the object (if it was previously forbidden).

15) [line 13] MI'GERONEI SAVA - he becomes satiated by swallowing large gulps that fill his throat

16) [line 14] LIGMA GEMU'EI - he should swallow large gulps of wine
*17*) [line 15] MAI DI'CHSIV "MAH YAFU FE'AMAYICH..." - (the Gemara mentions this Drush here because it is based on the beginning of the verse that was discussed on Amud Alef, "Chamukei Yerechayich...," and because it is related to Aliyah l'Regel, a Mitzvah that applies to Sukos)

18) [line 15] "MAH YAFU FE'AMAYICH BA'NE'ALIM, BAS NADIV..." - "How lovely are your footsteps in sandals, O daughter of nobility..." (Shir ha'Shirim 7:3) - The Gemara interprets this verse to mean, "Your footsteps were so lovely when shod in the sandals of those who travel up to the Beis ha'Mikdash, you, the daughter of Avraham..."

19) [line 29] MISHTALEMES - is rewarded
20) [line 34] KOL HA'BA LIKPOTZ KOFETZ - whoever wants to hasten and do the Mitzvah of Tzedakah and Chesed can do so

21) [last line] KELI SHARES (A holy utensil)
A Keli Shares makes holy anything that enters it (Shemos 30:29). TOSFOS Pesachim 63b DH Midi points out that this applies only when the utensil is in the Azarah.
