Sukah 54

SUKA 36-56 (End of Maseches) have been dedicated by the wife and daughters of the late Dr. Simcha Bekelnitzky (Simcha Gedalya ben Shraga Feibush) of Queens N.Y. Well known in the community for his Chesed and Tzedakah, he will long be remembered.

1) [line 16] MI'DAROMA - from the south of Eretz Yisrael, the Negev (or a town by that name in that location)

2) [line 27] D'LO CHASH L'KIMCHA - lit. that has no concern for the flour he grinds, [whether it is ground from wheat or from bran] (RASHI Pesachim 84a), i.e. for the words that he utters (RASHI Yevamos 42b)

54b---------------------------------------54b

3) [line 17] KI MIKLE'INAN - when it falls
4) [line 21] CHELVEI SHABBOS - the fats (Chelev) [and limbs] of the afternoon Korban Tamid that was brought on Shabbos (Mishnah Shabbos 113a and RASHI Shabbos 114a)

5) [line 26] KI SLEIKIS L'HASAM - when I went up there [to Eretz Yisrael]

6) [line 29] EIN BEIN ATZERES L'ATZERES V'EIN BEIN ROSH HA'SHANAH L'ROSH HA'SHANAH ELA ARBA'AH YAMIM BILVAD
The day of the week on which Shavuos and Rosh ha'Shanah fall, respectively, in two consecutive years is always four days apart. (The Halachah does not follow this opinion.)

7) [line 34] LEIDA SHE'HUKBA ROSH CHODESH BI'ZEMANO - to show that Beis Din is confident that the day that they chose for Rosh Chodesh is the right day

8) [last line] KARKOV HA'MIZBE'ACH - the two outer Amos atop the Mizbe'ach, where the Kohanim would walk (TIKLIN CHADETIN, based on the Gemara Shekalim 22a); this follows the Girsa *AL* KARKOV HA'MIZBE'ACH (TOSFOS DH d'Tanya). According to the Girsa *TACHAS* KARKOV HA'MIZBE'ACH, the Gemara is referring to the area on the ramp, immediately under the Mizbe'ach (Zevachim 62a)
