"The Kohan (Priest) from amongst his sons who is anointed in his place shall perform it..................(6:15) Twice a day, the Kohan Gadol (High Priest) would offer a meal offering called the"Minchas Chavitin".Half was brought in the morning and the other half in the afternoon.This offering was burnt in its entirety.Its interesting to note that this type of meal offering was the same type usually brought by poorest of the poor. It consisted mainly of flour and oil........A question can be asked, why was the Kohan Gadol commanded to offer a similar type of meal offering as that of the poorest Jew? I would like to propose the following original answer, Bezrat Hashem. In all reality every person is poor if not for G-d's boundless benevolence no matter what a person's status might be.This can be readily seen from the "meal offering" itself. How so? The flour of the offering represents the body,and the oil represents a person's soul. No matter what a person's status, we all share these components in common.Yet, every person has the ability to grow great in Torah and good deeds. Therefore, when the flour and oil are combined, it's teaching us a very significant lesson. When serving G-d , both body and soul must be in unison. This applies equally to both rich or poor..........A half hearted attempt is unacceptable. We must try to be sincere in our service to Hashem ..........................This does not necessarily mean that it has to be perfect, it just has to be real and sincere. This is something we can all try to do regardless of our social status. Have a good Shabbos
