HaRav Yitchak Tzvi
Oshinsky,
a lifelong resident of Jerusalem, Israel is considered one of the shining young
Prodigies in the City. He resides in Yerushalayim with his wife and three
daughters.
HaRav HaGoan Brodie the Rosh HaYeshiva and head of The Chevron Yeshiva in
Ge'ulah (the heart of Jerusalem), in his approbation to R' Oshinsky's recent
publication on the laws of Mourning (Aveilus) has acclaimed R' Oshinsky to be
one of the great Torah Scholars in the City. His concentration coupled with his
ability to clearly understand and explain the subject matter at hand has caused
the Rav to be in demand by many nationally and now internationally as he has
taken on the role of Chief Lecturer in the area of Aveilus (the laws of
mourning) for the Shulchan Aruch Learning Project.
R' Oshinsky, in addition to his duties at the Shulchan Aruch Project, is a
judge in the Jerusalem Jewish Court as well as teaching at Mishkan HaTorah in
Yerushalayim as well as conveying lectures to Kollels on Fridays. R' Oshinsky
learned to be a Dayan (judge) in Nishmat Israel in Bayit Vegan, Yerushalayim. He
received his Semicha (Rabbinic Ordination) from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel
entitling him to be the Rabbi of the City as well as a Dayan for the Chief
Rabbinate. In addition the Rav received Semicha from HaRav HaGoan Yitzchak Koliz
Z'tl, the Jerusalem Rav and from HaRav R'Nechmia Goldberg Shilta. In
addition R' Avraham Kohen the Rosh HaYeshiva of Nishmat Yisrael also granted
Semicha to the Rav and so to from Mifahal HaShas.
R' Oshinsky as well has authored a book on the Laws of Mourning as well as a
book on topics of Money, Community. The Rav's high level of academic Scholarship
has led him to be involved with the examination system in the Rabbinate and thus
his incredible innate ability to understand and convey such a difficult area of
learning to us is a real privilege and one we expect many from around the world
will take advantage of.
