CHASIDIC INSIGHTS PARSHAS DVORIM 5764 BS"D

Ch. 1, v. 1: "V'di zohov" - Rashi says that "di zohov" alludes to the sin of the golden calf. Even when giving admonition, words of "gold" to set someone on the straight path, one must not overdo it. "V'di zohov" can be read as "v'dai zohov," enough of the gold. (M'oroh Shel Torah based on a medrash in the name of Rabbi Abbo)

Ch. 1, v. 6: "Rav lochem she'ves bohor ha'zeh" - Do not remained stymied by seeming impediments that seem as large as a mountain. (Mo'ore Voshemesh)

Ch. 1, v. 14: "Tov hadovor asher dibarto laasos" - The matter of your speaking with the true intention of "laasos," carrying it out, is good, as there are many leaders who speak of great concepts and in their personal lives they fall far short. (Imrei Chein)

Ch. 1, v. 17: "Lo soguru mipnei ish" - The Magid of Mezeritch held his teacher the Baal Shem Tov in such great esteem that after the Besh"t's death, when the Magid found a pinch of snuff that the Besh"t inhaled on a towel, he fainted. Compare this with when the Besh"t was alive and the Magid held court and had to rule when one of the contestants was a relative of the Besh't. The Besh"t happened to be walking by the court and tarried there a moment, as his relative was involved. The Magid bellowed, "Whoever does not belong here should leave!" His awe of the Torah's command "lo soguru" totally eclipsed his awe of his Rebbi. (Kisvei Rabbi Yoseif Prager)

Ch. 1, v. 17: "V'hadovor asher yiksheh mi'kem" -If a matter of the Torah is beyond your comprehension, it is "mi'kem," your fault. (Baal Shem Tov in Ben Poras Yoseif)

Ch. 2, v. 4: "A'tem ovrim bigvul acheichem bnei Eisov" - Yalkut Shimoni writes that you are "ovrim," passing through, while Eisov is "yoshvim, residing. Yaakov and Eisov made the following arrangement. This ephemeral world is Eisov's, while the world-to-come is Yaakov's. Therefore, "Al tisgoru vom," do not encite them. This world is theirs. (Imrei Shefer)

Ch. 2, v. 7: "Hashem Elokecho imoch lo chosarto dovor" - If you feel that Hashem is with you, you will lack nothing. Alternatively, if you are satisfied with your lot and don't feel lacking, then Hashem will be with you. (Rabbi Moshe Midner in Toras Ovos)
