August 22

Beitzah 4:6

Rebbi Eliezer says you can take a piece of fire wood from your house and use it to clean your teeth. You can gather wood from a courtyard and light it. The chachamim say you can only gather from the house and you can only use it for fire wood.

Beitzah 4:7

You cannot make a new fire on Yom Tov (such as by lighting a match).

You cannot heat up a tile in order to toast something.

On fruit which is put out to dry and is almost edible, you can say, ‘Tomorrow I want to eat this’. This is talking about the fruit of shvius as that is not obligated in tithes. The chachamoim say you must mark it off and say, ‘I will take from here’.
