Shikalim 5:5
If someone lost his tokens, we would wait until the evening when Yochanan and
Achiya got together to see if the numbers equaled. If there was extra then we
would give a token to the one who lost it. If all the numbers were equal we do
not give him anything.
The date was written on every token to stop the thieves who would attempt to
use tokens that had been lost.
Shikalim 5:6
There were two chambers for collecting. One was the chamber of utensils and
one the chamber of the hidden ones.
The chamber of the hidden ones was were the righteous put money secretly and
the poor obtained money secretly.
The chamber of utensils was were people threw utensils for the Bais Hamikdash.
Once every 30 days the treasurers would go in to sort through the new utensils.
All utensils needed by the Bais Hamikdash would be left and all that were not
needed were sold and the money used for the upkeep of the Bais Hamikdash.
