Moed Katan 3:7
On Chol Hamoed, the laws of a mourner such as ripping clothes and eating a
mourner’s meal [which is the first meal of a mourner] are only for the 7 close
relatives. Normally the mourner’s meal is eaten on a turned over bed, however,
on Chol Hamoed it is eaten on a regular bed.
You do not bring the meal to the mourner on a fancy tray, rather in a basket.
In the time of chazal there were special brachos said by the mourner’s
meal, these are not said on Chol Hamoed. However, a shura which is where people
stand in two rows through which the avel walks, is done with the people giving
condolences and then the people are dismissed.
Moed Katan 3:8
The corpse is not put down in the public square even when not being eulogized
on Chol Hamoed. The same is true for women always.
Women can sing their chants on Chol hamoed but cannot do their clapping. R’
Yishmael says the women next to the corpse can clap.
