Chagiga 1:5
A person who has a lot of people to feed and not so much money, he should
spend more money on shelamim that can be eaten and less on olos that cannot be
eaten.
A person who has a lot of money and not so many people to feed, he should
spend more money on olos that cannot be eaten and less on shelamim that can be
eaten.
On a person who does have a lot of money and not so many people to feed, it
says to give 2 maah and one maah as in the previous mishna.
On a person who has a lot of money and a lot of people to feed, it says ‘ish
kimatnos yado’ [each man should give as much as he can afford].
