Parshas Behaloscha

The posuk says ‘al pi Hashem yachanu al pi Hashem yisauo’, by the words of Hashem they camped and by the words of Hashem they traveled. Chazal say that there is a hekesh [the posuk is put together] to tell us they were both done by the words of Hashem with his full agreement. A question is raised on this chazal; why do you need a hekesh to tell us this? Since it says it specifically for each item, why does it have to give a limud one from the other?

The words ‘al pi Hashem’ we find also by the miraglim [the spies] where the posuk says ‘vyishlach al pi Hashem’, they were sent by the words of Hashem. The fact that it says ‘al pi Hashem’ just means that it was not against Hashem’s will. They had the right to do it because Hashem agreed but it is not necessarily his preference. The hekesh in this weeks parsha comes to teach us that the stopping and travelling in the desert was done completely with the ratzone haborei.
