Parshas Shelach
It says in the posuk, Selach na leavone haam hazeh kigodel chasdecha vikaasher
nasasa laam hazeh me-mitzrayim viad heina, please forgive this nation with the
magnanimity of your kindness just as you carried this nation from Egypt until now.
Logically, it would seem to be an argument against forgiveness, if Hashem carried them
with all their sins since leaving mitzrayim, perhaps it is all adding up to a point where
the limit of Hashems tolerance has been reached?
In posuk 15 & 16, Moshe said, the nations will say that Hashem is not strong enough
to bring Bnei Yisrael into Eretz Yisrael. Why would they specifically say that? Maybe Bnei
Yisrael are not going in because they did something wrong?
The truth is Bnei Yisrael did not have a merit to go out of Egypt. The malachim said,
both Bnei Yisrael and Egypt are doing idol worship. The truth is Hashem
redeemed them without their having been worthy of redemption. When that is true the fact
that they do another thing wrong does not really add that you should not be carried, after
all idol worship is the worst. If Hashem did not take bnei yisrael the major understanding
would be that his strength is not strong because to say that he doesn't want them anymore
because of an aveira is not plausible, anyway they didn't have a merit. Only Bnei Yisrael
understand that we are on a totaly differamt plain. Therefor Moshe asked that we should be
carried like when we went out of Egypt even wuthout merit.
