In Shoftim 17:14, the torah speaks about making a jewish king. The posuk says ‘when you will come to the land and you will sit in it..’. We see from here how different Klal Yisrael is than the rest of the nations. The nations make themselves a king so they can go to war and win. They figure they need a leader to get the troops ready physically and mentally. Not so Klal Yisrael who say to win Eretz Yisrael there is no reason to have a king. Afterwards to live in peace then we need a king.
