Parshas Terumah
If you look at the pesukim discussing the making of the keilim of the mishkan, it
speaks about the physical size, shape, and material to be used. When it describes the
Table it mentions that the lechem hapanim was to be kept on it. Why only with the
Table does the posuk mention its usage? For instance, why when
describing the menorah are the wicks not included?
All the keilim in the mishkan are referring to concepts of ruchneyos-spirituality; the
menorah which was made of a single piece of solid gold, represents the Torah which is one
and spreads light to all. The menorah did not require the wicks to accomplish its
symbolism.
The Table with the lechem hapanim symbolized the blessing of material wealth. The Table
alone could not complete this symbolism for a table alone may be used for learning or
resting, etc. Therefore the posuk in describing the table mentioned the lechem hapanim
that would together with the construction of the table complete its symbolism.
