Parshas Vayechi

The posuk states in the brachos of the tribe of Dan, ’Lishuasicha kivisi Hashem’ - for your deliverance I waited, Hashem.

Ramban---explains that the beginning of the bracha is talking about Shimshon who came from shevet Dan. He says that Shimshon was the last shofet, judge. For almost 400 hundred years, Klal Yisreal was lead by the shoftim. When times became bad because of their transgressions, the shoftim guided Klal Yisrael back to its previous state of goodness. Now as Shimshon dies and that era is over, there are no more snakes (ie. Shimshon) to save them, so now they must wait for the deliverance of Hashem.

Rabbinu Bachayaa---explains that this was the actual prayer of Shimshon when he went to kill himself and the Plishtim at the end of his life. He prayed that Hashem should bring him deliverance and help his destroy the Plishtim.
